 BSC\nBismarck State College ArtsQuest goes behind the scenes of the blockb
 uster film\, 'Twilight\,' with an afternoon screening of the film and an e
 vening lecture by its director\, Catherine Hardwicke\, on April 17.\nThe m
 ovie starts at 3 p.m. in Sidney J. Lee Auditorium and Hardwicke's presenta
 tion begins at 7 p.m.\, National Energy Center of Excellence 4th floor. Bo
 th events are free to the public.\nHardwicke trained as an architect and s
 tarted in film as a production designer. She designed more than 20 films\,
  including 'Vanilla Sky\,' 'Three Kings' and 'Tank Girl.' At the podium\, 
 she will explore why she moved from production design to directing\, how s
 he chooses a film project\, and the director's role in bringing a mega\, b
 est-selling book to the big screen.\nIn her presentation\, Hardwicke will 
 reference her book\, 'Twilight: The Director's Notebook\,' which will be a
 vailable for purchase.\n'Twilight' was adapted from the wildly popular par
 anormal romance novel by Stephanie Meyer. Released Nov. 21\, 2008\, the fi
 lm version has grossed more than $380 million worldwide. It debuted at No.
  1 at the box office with $70 million in gross ticket sales nationwide\, m
 aking it the highest debut ever for a female director.\nThe movie follows 
 the novel's storyline about a 17-year old girl whose love for a young vamp
 ire is returned in a risky relationship that places her in danger.\nHardwi
 cke's 2003 debut as a feature film director and co-writer brought her accl
 aim for the award-winning movie\, 'Thirteen.' She has since directed 'Lord
 s of Dogtown' (2005) and 'The Nativity Story' (2006) and has several film
