VSA arts of North Dakota would like to announce the upcoming Four Days of Film Making workshop with professional cinematography Jim Kambeitz. The workshop will take place in the old archery range in the World War Memorial Building at 215 N 6th St in Bismarck and will be held from 10am-4pm from December 28th-31st. It will conclude with a film screening at Sunday, January 3rd at 7:00.The cost for the workshop is $35. We will be accepting a maximum of 16 students. Applicants are accepted on a first-come first-serve basis.

Four Days of Film-making is a full-immersion film-making experience that will take students age 12-18, both with and without disabilities, through the major steps that all Hollywood films go through: from creating an idea, to writing a script, drawing up storyboards and a shot list, choosing a cast, preparing preproduction details, shooting the film, acting in it, directing it, and editing. At the end of the workshop the students will have created their own film. In addition, the students will learn to analyze the structure of short films as well as learn how to shoot a film that looks good on a very low budget, learning guerilla lighting techniques and other cinematographic skills.

Cinematographer Jim Kambeitz is a film-maker and English teacher from Bismarck, North Dakota. He has a master?s degree in English Composition, Education and Film Theory, as well as training in cinematography at the Lodz Film School in Poland, where he also co-taught dramaturgy and scriptwriting for two years with accomplished screenwriter, John Steppling. He has experience working as a cinematographer on several short films as well as a feature length yoga film.
