This year’s spring choral concert at Bismarck State College is titled, “Spring Love Song.” Performing ensembles are the BSC Concert Choir and BSC Women’s Ensemble conducted by Dr. John Weiss and the BSC Men’s Ensemble conducted by Prof. Dawn Hagerott. Piano accompanists are Diane Eichhorst and Arlene Gray. Some of the more well-known composers on the program are Johannes Brahms, Eric Whitacre, Billy Joel, George Gershwin, and Harold Arlen. The repertoire represents just about every kind of love imaginable – innocent love, passionate love, patriotic love, humorous love, and religious love. Also, several of the song texts are set in the spring time, hence the title of the concert. Musical styles range from folk song arrangements to Classical-Romantic Period idioms to Latin Jazz. The event is free of charge and takes place on April 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sidney J. Lee Auditorium at Bismarck State College.
