The event is free, open to the public, and no registration required. Build and Launch your own rocket! Our annual Family Rocket Day Free Family Event inspires tomorrow’s astronauts and space enthusiasts. Increase your awareness of rocketry – Build a variety of rockets and watch them launch up into the sky! In addition to the many free activities, visitors of all ages are able to purchase a brand new type of rocket kit this year, which volunteers will help you build and then launch! Participants will launch, water rockets, air pressure rockets, alka-seltzer rockets, and engine-propelled rockets. If you choose to build an engine propelled rocket the cost for the kit is $10.00 for Gateway to Science members and $12.00 for the general public. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Pat Riepl, builder of his famous Patriot Rocket, is returning to help launch your rocket and display a few of his own rockets. Mike Whorley, will have his personal collection of Rockets on display and video footage of past launches. For more information, visit our website at www.gatewaytoscience.org or call 701-258-1975.
