The 2011 Season of Visiting Scientists Series Presents “Feeding Ourselves First — The Importance of Bioregional Food Sufficiency” with Guest Speaker Annie Carlson

Agriculture is North Dakota’s leading industry and we lead the nation in food production. We tout the motto, “We feed the world!” But do we really? More than 95% of the food in ND grocery stores is imported into the state. More and more people are using feeding programs to supplement their daily bread. With rising oil prices, how long before large “food” corporations consider shipping products to ND too expensive? We may feed the world, but we're not feeding ourselves… BUT WE CAN!
