High School Students to Explore ‘The Heart of Christ’ At U-Mary Summer Institute

With the heart of Christ as their model, high school students will strive to find Christ within their own hearts and in others, and help bring Jesus into the world at the University of Mary’ s second annual Cor Christi Institute July 25-30, 2011.

Cor Christi is a living encounter with the foundational teachings and practices of the Catholic faith. This new initiative was born from University of Mary President Father Shea’s desire to bring young Catholics from all parishes closer to their faith and have them share that experience with one another here on campus.

“The University of Mary is pleased and grateful to once again be able to offer this wonderful opportunity for young people to experience and gain a deeper understanding of the Catholic faith in a unique program especially geared to helping them answer the most important questions of life,” remarked Shea.

Shea, along with young priests and laity, will be present at the institute to carry on the vision by offering this new generation an intensive summer experience filled with adventure and basics of their faith.

Students entering grades 9, 10, 11, or 12 will be introduced to a basic understanding of the Trinity, the Incarnation, the Sacraments, how to pray as a Catholic — how to live as a Catholic. The days will be intense and straightforward, filled from morning to night with serious study, good conversation and wholesome friendship.
