"The Heiress" is based on the Henry James Novel "Washington Square," which was made into a marvelous movie starring Olivia De Havilland and Montgomery Clift.

A young naive woman falls for a handsome young man who her emotionally-abusive father suspects is a fortune hunter. "The Heriess" received a Tony Award for best revival in 1995.
