Theo Art School
Share the love of Art!Theo Art School [THEO, Inc.] was founded in 1992 as a private, 501(c)(3) art school to enhance the art education available in the public and private school systems for children and adults. Theo is the only year roundfine arts school in the area that provides classes for ages 4+ at its studios in Bismarck's High Prairie Arts and Science Complex. The school was named after Theo Van Gogh, the brother of Vincent Van Gogh, because Theo encouraged Vincent to pursue his dream of art, and supported him financially through his years as an artist. Theo Art School also encourages students to pursue their dreams of art and offers financial help to those in need. Theo Art School enjoys an educational partnership with many local elementary schools offering after-school classes at schools in both Bismarck and Mandan. Theo's role in art education is more vital today than ever before because art at many local schools has been discontinued due to budget restrains and the priority is other subjects in order to meet the assessment standards resulting from the federal "No Child Left Behind"Act. We believe every child should have the advantage of a quality fine art education. That's why we keep our tuition as low as possible and we offer scholarships. There are no additional charges to tuition. All art supplies are included in the tuition cost of each class. Whether it's sculpting, using oil paints, pastels, or creating art pieces, our mission is to provide a dynamic, nurturing environment that encourages children to discover their unique creative talents. With small class sizes, inspirational artists and skilled teachers insure that all children have the opportunity to discover what great things they can accomplish. To that end, our instructors will show children new ways of thinking, seeing, and doing Art.Theo Art Camps are developed to provide experiences not available during the regular academic year within a framework designed to be challenging and developmentally appropriate for each child or group. It is hoped that children who join us this summer will come away with new skills and confidence that will encourage them to further explore the diversity of their world.
